Disclaimer : This is to testify that the following short story is an original and was written by me, for a college competition. It won first place. This story has not been plagiarised in any form whatsoever, and I request that it in turn is not plagiarised by any reader.   Image credits: Pinterest The situation was dire. It was the year 2027. Image Credits: Peakpex I remember when I was in class one, and a teacher made me sit without a bench partner. I was upset about it, but when I came home, you said to me, "Maybe she knows that you don't need to sit with anyone, cause you're fine on your own."  Back then, I couldn't fathom what you said, but now, almost 15 years later, with barely anyone I have to call a genuine friend, it all makes sense to me. I've learnt to be by myself, and not lean on anyone else for moral support. If only I'd have known those words would eventually ring true, I'd have never blamed myself for everyone who walked out of my life.
