Foreshadowing

I remember when I was in class one, and a teacher made me sit without a bench partner. I was upset about it, but when I came home, you said to me, "Maybe she knows that you don't need to sit with anyone, cause you're fine on your own." 

Back then, I couldn't fathom what you said, but now, almost 15 years later, with barely anyone I have to call a genuine friend, it all makes sense to me. I've learnt to be by myself, and not lean on anyone else for moral support. If only I'd have known those words would eventually ring true, I'd have never blamed myself for everyone who walked out of my life.
