Wake up in the morning, feel like Sleepy the dwarf.

Roll over on my side, a grinning dog next to me!

Before I know, it's time for the first lecture,

Through the classroom doors I walk, into my bedroom I go!

The long, wooden desks and benches are gone,

Replaced by just a table and chair.

Lecturers and college mates are but faces on a screen,

Their voices, mere sounds speaking out to me.

There is no longer chitter-chatter to meet the ears,

No more rush of footfalls on the ground.

The sound of the bell is a distant ringing.

Oh wait, that's just a phone ring-a-linging!

The sounds that emerge from the depths of the background,

Like horrid shrieks that pierce a calm cool night.

The blaring of horns, the sirens of ambulances,

Oh Lord! My head, an airplane through turbulence!

Come time for lectures to end,

My eyes begin a protest of *"Your Eyes Matter".

My head is holding a party,

A hundred elephants doing the *Harlem Shake.

The last ounce of energy in me quits,

Doing the Macarena, it's out of me.

I now feel like *The Walking Dead,

But don't you worry, I won't eat you head!

Now I know there is no use in complaining,

I'll hold tight and just keep on waiting.

For a time will come, a distant future,

Where I'll return to those long, wooden desks and benches.

So, let's not burn in rage and curse the times,

We'll learn to breathe and value our lives.

*You and me and the entire human race,

We'll move ahead, one class at a time, until we've lost Covid's embrace.

* "Your Eyes Matter"- I am in no way trying to make a mockery of the "Black Lives Matter" movement.

*Harlem Shake- Was viral in 2013. Features people dancing and acting crazy to the song of the same name.

*The Walking Dead- An American post-apocalyptic horror television series.

*You and me and the entire human race- A line from the famous Michael Jackson song- "Heal The World".
