Clandestine

When the sparkling glow of the moon,

Runs its fingers through the locks of the trees,

And the diamonds in the sky,

Befriend the shadows lurking in the night.

In the hush, she emerges,

Clandestine being,

No footprints left behind,

As she glides across the forest floor.

And in her wake,

A thousand fireflies, light up the path she's trodden.

    Flickering yellows,

The forest floor, now golden.

The birds, the flowers, the wolves,

Awaken at her approach.

She's one with them,

And they know, their space, she will never encroach.

In the real world,

Her existence unknown to common man,

You may pass her by a million times,

Yet she shivers, alone and cold.

But as she glides across the forest floor,

She has nothing to be afraid of.

And even though the cold wind of darkness embraces her,

Her soul is filled with a fire burning within.
